RECYCLE needs : ■ eco-designed carpets, i.e. manufactured with the aim of being recyclable and recycled. At Sommer, all carpets are designed to be recycled in the form of granules with interesting physical and chemical properties for the plastics industry. ■ clean’ carpets, i.e. free of all waste: paper, cardboard, screws, nails, wood... ■ sorted and identified carpets. Indeed, to recycle, the flow must be mono-material. If you mix carpets from different suppliers that are not made of strictly identical materials, recycling will not take place. For example, a 100% PP carpet (Sommer) cannot be recycled with a PP / PES carpet or any other composition. What about polyane and double-sided tape? If there are small amounts of polyane (protective film) and/or double-sided adhesives left on the carpet, this will not interfere with recycling. FORBIDDEN FOR RECYCLING 3
